Following
are all the compiled historical Pressly photographs. Almost all have
been processed to yield the best copies, some heavily processed and others
processed lightly, depending on need. In some cases the originals
have been included to give the viewer a feel for the true age of the photographs.
Most of the photographs are of 1870 to 1890 vintage. Many were tintypes,
some shot on paper and glued to cardboard, and one was so old that it was
shot onto a glass plate. Together they present a compelling record
of the Pressly family history. It is fortunate that my mother, Rebecca
(Pressly-Aubertin) Saunders, was a pack rat regarding family paraphernalia.
After her passing these items were discovered in her effects, packed for
safe keeping, hopefully for just such an occasion as this. I doubt
many have seen the light of day for decades at least. They are now
presented to the entire family with pride and respect. - JRS -
